Hi, I want to learn how to program and make my own software. It is something I would enjoy to do and I want to deal with computers when I grow up. The high school that I go to does not offer any computer programming courses at all. I know there are many programming languages and I don’t know which one to choose and what software to use in developing software. I would probably prefer to use the most standard code and are there any free programs to develop software in that code for either windows or linux. I tried visual basic express edition but I don’t think vb can get many things accomplished and I don’t think it is very popular. Also if you know of any step by step guides online to learn how to program could you please tell me. I know I am asking a lot but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For all of those wondering why I would do it as a hobby is, I want to become an accountant, and it pays pretty well. I use Linux and benefit from open source projects through the wonderful software and I want to get involved and give back.

I ahd to upgrade my computer in the shop. I did not have the code on my computer for windows. So the lady reinstalled windows xp and in the meen time. she said my programs should be on the hard drive. I try to click on microsoft works and it wasnt there. so I got all my disks together and tried to reinstall them ten i get an error code which i found out that the code means the cd rom drive isnt working properly. i have a dvd drive as well but i try it there and the same thing comes up i can not work this computer without my programs can anyone help. please dont tell me to call the lady because i am very upset that i have to fix this so i havent paid her the money i owe. so that is why i wont contact her. What can i do with this drive what can i do to get my programs she said the programs are on the hard drive how do i find them and reinstall them? sometimes i **** computers.
