akc asked: My co-worker and I were talking about taking computer class in elementary school in the 90’s. And how we loved Oregon trail and some other games. But we cannot remember the name of the program used to make those really cool banners. Anyone remember? I told him I could find out before he does.

So i was thinking about taking this programming class at my school next year. I don’t know much about it at all except that it uses java and i hear a bunch of the computer wizz kids say stuff like “oh don’t take that class java is for newbz and is pointless” and that the only usefull type of programming code is c++. Can someone explain to me what the differences are and if it is worth taking a class that uses java?

As BF Skinner did with lab rats many years ago, you just might be behaving exactly like his lab rats. A very simple stimulus-response behavior. The rats were very, very predictable and could be train to behave i many different ways to get their miniscule reward, not necessarily food. Isn’t that what you are really doing? Do you really care or remember what your qustion or answer was a month ago?
Can you get at least a vague image of someone from their accumulated responses? Most important, have you ever felt like one of those lab rats and, again, have you unintentionally been trained by your desk computer?

I’m learning Basic right now, and the prerequisites are Java and Basic, or instructor approval, for our AP course. I was wondering if there was any way to not take Java and take AP, which is why I asked this question.
